A U.S. astronaut on the International Space Station has recently launched a new project. Megan McArthur is photographing the West鈥檚 iconic national parks. She grew up visiting places like Yosemite, Grand Canyon and Zion 鈥� and now she鈥檚 shooting them from 250 miles above the surface of Earth.
鈥淭hese are amazing, breathtaking places,鈥� she said during on Friday. 鈥淎lso, [I鈥檓] seeing parks I haven鈥檛 been to before and thinking, 鈥極h wow, that looks amazing. I really want to go there and learn about that environment.'鈥�
McArthur plans to create a portfolio of photos when she returns. Right now she鈥檚 taking shots of parks including Zion and Yellowstone and posting them to Twitter.

She鈥檚 also taking photos of wildfires in the West.
