Colorado's Independent Ethics Commission is moving forward to review an ethics complaint against Governor John Hickenlooper. The Governor鈥檚 office blasted the claim saying it has no merit.
鈥淭hese allegations are motivated 100 percent by people playing political games and have no basis in fact,鈥� said Eric Brown, the Governor鈥檚 spokesman.
The conservative group brought forward the complaint. The group says the Governor violated ethics rules when he attended the 2013 Democratic Governor鈥檚 Association meeting in Aspen. The DGA paid for the Governor鈥檚 costs for the conference, which Compass says violates the .
Hickenlooper鈥檚 chief legal counsel says the Governor helped organized and spoke at the conference, which means he is exempt from the gift ban.
