Civil Unions Bill Passes First Hurdle at State Capitol

A bill that would create civil unions cleared its first hurdle in the state house on Monday. Supporters say it's a major step forward to create equal rights under the law for same sex couples. But opponents worry it would undermine the traditional family unit.
